Papua New Guinea will host the 2nd Forum Disability Minister’s Meeting which will be held in Port Moresby from the 3 – 4 October 2012.
“With the theme of ‘Progressing Disability Inclusive Development in the Pacific’, the meeting will discuss on the progress in the implementation of the Pacific Regional Strategy on Disability and the importance of the Convention on the Rights for Persons with Disabilities for the Pacific.
The Forum Disability Ministers’ Meeting will also consider other issues affecting the progress of Disability Inclusive Development in the Pacific.
The meeting will review the partnership between governments and Disabled Person Organizations and hopefully agree on strategies to strengthen the partnership in promoting disability issues at the regional and national level.
The two-day meeting, coordinated by the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, will also be attended by other CROP agencies, WHO and representatives of non-government organizations. It is being funded by the Australian Government.
