PNG LNG Invests in Education Improvements in Hela Province

It was smiles all around when the keys to a new teacher’s house was handed to the Komo Catholic Primary School in Hela Province over the weekend. The teacher’s house was built for the school by Exxon Mobil PNG; operator of the PNG LNG Project, who has been working in conjunction with communities in PNG LNG project areas to help improve education and health infrastructure including the restoration of facilities damaged in the 2018 earthquake.

The recently launched National Health Insurance Scheme underwritten by PNG Health Assurance Company signed its first Public Service Association last Friday (April 12). National President of PNG Nurses Association, Fredrick Kebai, says after consultation with PHA, the union decided on the motion to sign up for the health insurance scheme.

The resignation of Papua New Guinean’s Finance Minister, James Marape, has sent shockwaves  through  the country’s  political  circles.The  unexpected announcement came at midday when Mr. Marape held a  briefing with the media at his Vulupindi  Haus office in Port Moresby. James Marape, who has been Finance Minister since 2012,  said his decision was because the Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill,   and ‘his associates’ had ‘lost trust’ in him.
