Semi-trailer Crashes Into Parked Cars

by Jack Lapauve Jr – EM TV News, Port Moresby

The driver of a semi-trailer vehicle is in a critical condition at Port Moresby General Hospital following a nasty accident this morning.

Eye witnesses say that the truck lost control, crossed its lane, overturned and crashed into vehicles parked alongside the road just prior to the roundabout at Sir Hubert Murray Stadium.

The semi-trailer was carrying gravel to a road construction site.

Eye witness Gangi Mark was selling cigarettes near the road when she saw the truck beginning to lose control.

“Displa kar ron kam na wok presim horn na kam then break mas lus na em krosim rot na stat kresim ol kar sanap lo sait,” Gangi said.

Gangi is lucky to have survived and not been hurt, as the effect of the collision rippled through the cars parked in the area.

Fortunately, vehicle owners were not in their cars when the accident happened. The driver of the semi-trailer was rushed to hospital for treatment immediately following the accident.

Some of the car owners say they will sue the company for the damage caused, but other drivers and commuters say that the eight cars were unlawfully parked where they were.

Police say, the driver will be questioned after he is discharged from hospital.
