Police Minister’s Focus: Corruption in the Police Force

The Police Minister of the new Marape-Davis Government, Bryan Kramer, told EMTV News in Lae on Thursday, June 14, that the first issue that he will focus on is corruption in the police force. Owena Health Centre Staff: Slow Delivery of Medicine

A Baptist-run health centre in the Obura-Wanenara District of Eastern Highlands Province waits for almost 6 months before receiving their medical supplies. Owena Health Centre of Lamari Local Level Government is the only health centre that serves almost eight thousand people. The only three serving nurses at the health centre told EMTV News that the slow delivery of medical supplies have caused suffering and even death on young children, pregnant mothers and the elderly.

Another Successful Delivery with Manolos Aviation

A 30-year-old pregnant woman from Owena in the Obura Wanenara District in Eastern Highlands Province who couldn’t be assisted at the health centre was airlifted by Manolos Aviation to Lae last week Saturday. Diane Martin delivered a baby girl through an operation at Lae’s Angau Hospital. The mother and baby were discharged yesterday and were airlifted back to their village.

‘Family Breakdown’ a cause of the rise in Sexual Abuse Offence on Children  

Morobe’s Police Commander, Superintendent Alex N’Drasal told EM TV News that a breakdown in the family is one of the cause in the rise of sexual abuse on minors, especially girls. He said this after the Police arrested a man last week for producing pornography involving a schoolgirl from Wau in Bulolo District, who came into Lae, to look for money to pay her school fee.
