The Waigani National Court has declared Peter Isoaimo as the duly appointed MP for Kairuku – Hiri electorate in Central province.
Mr Isoaimo won the by-election earlier this year, but his win was disputed by former MP, Paru Aihi, on grounds of bribery.
After six months of waiting, the court ruled out the petition in favour of Mr Isoaimo.
Hundreds of supporters, friends and families packed the District office in Konedobu today, to express their excitement on the court decision.
Among them were Mr Isoaimo’s mother and National Alliance party executives.
In a media conference, Mr Isoaimo described the case as an “unnecessary court battle”.
He thanked his party executives, friends, families and supporters who supported him during the court battle.
Mr Isoaimo said he is now free to roll out projects in his electorate, putting priority on roads.
With three more years before the 2017 National Election, he is determined to restore infrastructure in his electorate.
Mr Isoaimo has been sitting on the third and second placing during the 2007 and 2012 National Elections, but turned out to be the winner in the recent by-election earlier this year.
