The use of robotics and robots in workfields, workplaces and businesses is reaching a common stand around the globe.
In a recent report, Japanese multinational company Hitachi has appointed a robot as its warehouse manager to monitor and achieve excellent work efficiency.
A company, Rethink Robotics in March, has announced its new development of a one-arm robot ‘Sawyer’ weighing 19 kilograms. After several tests conducted by the General Electrics, the machine is said to be ready for its functional operations.
Sawyer is designed for production lines that require a gentle touch such as manufacturing circuit boards and chips. The robot will be deployed to General Electric’s North Carolina Factory where it will be position parts into light fixtures.
Another furniture firm, Steelcase, will also use the robot in its Michigan factory to work alongside a welding machine, to pick and place parts.
The robot will be sold out in the United States, China, Japan and Europe at a base price of $29,000.
