Gordons Market Killing

Relatives of a 27 year old Engan man, who was apparently killed in Port Moresby on Friday, have called on authorities to investigate members of a security firm allegedly involved.

The man identiflied as Romis Yapu dlied after being attacked. The incident took place atthe Gordon’s market in Port Moresby.

The deceased, a Port Moresby Business College graduate, was returning from a job interview when he met his fate.

Reports say, he was chased by security personnel and was struck with a timber and punched several times. What sparkedthe attack is not known.

Community Leader and former Councillor, Nius Rom, condemnedthe attack. Relatives ofthe deceased have lodged a complaint atthe Gordon’s Police station.

NCD Governor Powes Parkop when asked to comment repllied in a text from Jakarta:  “That Rangers don’t operate at Gordens market. Those must be security or employees at Gordens Market”. 

Governor Parkop’saidthe NCDC management will verify and investigatethe matter before making any comment.
