The assistance given by the Chinese Government in the last 12 months towards hosting of the 2018 APEC Leader’s Summit has been massive.

The Chinese government has taken on four major projects in the nation’s capital to prepare Port Moresby for the APEC Leader’s Week.

These projects include the refurbishment of the International Convention Centre, which has hosted APEC related meetings, the resealing of the Poreporena Freeway and the construction of PNG’s first boulevard, leading to the National Parliament.

National Planning Minister Richard Maru says the PNG government appreciates China’s help and is grateful for their continuous support.

Papua New Guinea is five weeks away from hosting the 2018 Leader’s Summit.

And Minister responsible for APEC, Justin Tkatchenko, maintains that PNG is ready to host the 21 world leaders and their delegates, who are expected to arrive in Port Moresby in November.
