Chinese Ambassador to Papua New Guinea Xue Bing, says the people of PNG and China enjoy good relation and political trust.

Ambassador Bing made this comments when referring to recent media reports on the increase in Chinese investment in PNG in the last 12 months.

He was speaking at the donation of 94 band new passenger buses and fire trucks by the Chinese government in Port Moresby.

Ambassador Bing spoke of the existing economic and people to people relationships between the two countries.

He highlighted that the purpose of Chinese investment in PNG, ‘is to help the local economic development and social process of PNG as a country’.

The assistance given by the Chinese Government in the last 12 months towards hosting of the 2018 APEC Leader’s Summit has been massive.

The Chinese government has taken on four major projects in the nation’s capital to prepare Port Moresby for the APEC Leader’s Week.

These projects include the refurbishment of the International Convention Centre, which has hosted APEC related meetings, the resealing of the Poreporena Freeway and the construction of PNG’s first boulevard, leading to the National Parliament.

National Planning Minister Richard Maru says the PNG government appreciates China’s help and is grateful for their continuous support.

Papua New Guinea is five weeks away from hosting the 2018 Leader’s Summit.

And Minister responsible for APEC, Justin Tkatchenko, maintains that PNG is ready to host the 21 world leaders and their delegates, who are expected to arrive in Port Moresby in November.
