Eastern Highlands: 13 slain in Tribal Conflict

Police today confirmed that 13 people were killed in an apparent tribal conflict in the Kombri valley of Henganofi, Eastern Highlands Province.

Highlands Divisional Commander Teddy Tei said the killing was the result of a tribal fight between the Hkids and Jota tribes early this week.

Among those killed was a sixteen year old male student and a male infant.

An 18 year old grade 9 student in one of the local schools in the area is in a serious condition from injuries.

Commander Tei said police are stationed at the fighting area.
