West Taraka Talent Show Brings Together Youth

A group of young people of West Taraka, organised a musical talent show to end the 42nd Independence celebration on Sunday.

The youths formed bands to perform and raise funds to help develop the community.

The event was organised with the support of West Taraka based companies, Zilu Scientific and PNG Panamax.

Children and adults celebrated with different performances of music, dance and songs.

West Taraka is a suburb in Lae, known for its criminal activities taking place there.

The celebration organised was set for the first time in the area.

Also present was Morobe Governor was present.

The Governor said in order for developments to take place, everyone should change attitudes and be responsible for their community.

He said this after the Police Station Commander requested for the reconstruction of a new police station that was burnt down by youths from the area last year.

There are currently 27 bands in West Taraka, including 11 Gospel bands.

6 Artists living in the area are supporting these young people to use music to help change their community of West Taraka.
