UOG to improver Guidance and Counseling training

The University of Goroka hopes to establish a Certiflied Association for Counselors in Papua New Guineaunderthe current MOU betweenthe university and Australian VolunteersInternational or AVPNG.

The MOU recognizes University Of Goroka and AVPNG as partners to improver training in Guidance and Counseling at all levels inthe education system.

The signing took place yesterday at UOG by Vice Chancellor Dr Gairo Onagi, School Education Executive Dealn Dr Kapa Malpo, and AVI-PNG Project Officer Jacinta Gava. It was withnessed by Cora Moabi from AUSAID Goroka.

The ceremony was significant because Guidance and Counseling is a Strand atthe university’s Teacher Education Division.

The partnership is a mutual benefit as it will assistthe University to provide quality training in Guidance and Counseling.

Retaining quality teachers is also a major concern. The University has embarked on a K4.5 Housing project to attract staff as well.
