Tkatchenko Says PNG All Set to Host African Caribbean and Pacific Summit

Papua New Guinea is all set to host the three day African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Leaders’ Summit next week.

Minister for National Events, Justin Tkatchenko, said PNG was ready to host the 56 delegations expected to arrive over the weekend.

Diplomat Joshua Kalinoe said this was an opportunity to improve the profile of Papua New Guinea.

Minister Tkatchenko has assured that the country is ready to host the ACP Summit which will begin on Monday.

He said among the 56 delegations, some of whom have already arrived, include 1 president, 13 Prime Ministers, 6 Vice Presidents, 1 Deputy Prime Minister, 26 Ministers of Parliament and 15 Ambassadors and high commissioners.

Christopher Hawkins from the PNG APEC 2018 Committee said all logistics and coordination have been thoroughly set in place.

Ambassador Joshua Kalinoe said this was an opportunity for PNG to improve its image and connect globally.

Ambassador Kalinoe said Papua New Guinea will also go down in history as the place where the future of the ACP-EU relations will be discussed and where the course will be set for the ACP going forward after 2020.
