Hacking is a major Internet problem, striking the technology industry all the way through from connected baby monitors to disabling brakes on smart cars.
Although other smart frameworks have been applied to monitor and control Internet security problems, the problem continues to grow.
With aims to address these issues, more than 30 technology industry leaders including BT and Intel have teamed up to discuss and build the Internet of Things Security Foundation (ITSF).
The ITSF will examine all devices for security errors before they are put on the market for sale.
CEO of Data Science Consultancy Profusion, Mike Weston, said “by seeking to create a minimum standard for security, this body will help to safeguard people’s data and create a level playing field for technology companies”.
ITSF has “the capacity to capture an unprecedented amount of data on consumers,” Weston said.
Maintaining consumers trust, however, will be the key to making ITSF a success.
