By Dion Kombeng – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

Team PNG Boxing is hopeful that they will be able to qualify and compete at the Rio Olympic Games next year.

Following their recent success at the Pacific Games, PNG Boxing is looking at continuing the form they displayed, to the Olympic qualifiers in the coming months.

The Pacific Games saw the Papua New Guinea boxing team dominate in the ring. And now they have set their sights on the next international tournaments.

The Youth Commonwealth Games in Samoa is the target at the moment, with a host of young fighters who have impressed so far.

The team is also looking to the Oceania Championships which will be one of the first qualifiers for the Olympic Games.

Boxing has set their target on these qualifiers for a chance to be able to compete at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games next year.
