National Planning Support Sustainable Development

by Michelle Amba – EM TV News, Port Moresby

In its efforts in promoting sustainable development, the National Planning department announced K140,000 financial support for two up-coming events.

K40,000 was presented to National Fisheries Authority to co-host the Pacific Tuna Forum while one K100,000 was for the 2015 Wagani Seminar.

Both conferences are one way or the other aimed at promoting Papua New Guinea’s resources.

The cheques were received by representatives from NFA and Waigani Seminar’s organising committee.

Deputy Secretary for National Planning, Joe Kapa, said the department is focused on implementing the government’s development plans.

“The Tuna Forum is a collective management of PNG’s tuna resource and we are happy to be supporting this great cause by supporting it financially,”said Mr.Kapa.

He said the department is now in the important process of promoting knowledge to promote sustainability.

The Pacific Tuna Forum will be held in Fiji in September while the 2015 Waigani Seminar will be held in August this year.
