It was only a month ago when PNG coaches and athletes visited the Gold Coast, Australia, to attend the Sports Leadership Summit.
The debriefing yesterday, in Port Moresby, was to discuss what both the coaches and athletes learnt from the week-long program.
During the debriefing, some of the athletes and coaches gave feedback on what they have learnt from the experience, how this will help them in the long run and the benefits associated.
Aaron Alsop, Director of PNG High Performance, says these athletes and coaches will be able to pass on the skills they have gained from the summit to their fellow athletes and coaches to motivate them.
The aim is to get both coaches and athletes to understand each other better when preparing for big sporting events from community level to provincial and international events.
Applications will go out again for new coaches and athletes to apply for next year’s Sports Leadership Summit.
With the hard working team of PNG High Performance, more good programs such as the Sports Leadership and others, will continue to educate and identify leaders of tomorrow, and how these individuals can, not only help themselves but share with fellow Papua New Guineas, to make a better PNG.
Sports Leadership Summit, Gold Coast Australia, is a way forward to get athletes and Coaches prepare for their national and international events in the lead up to the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Representing the Government at the debriefing was CEO of PNG Sports Foundation, Peter Tsiamalili Junior, who congratulated both the coaches and athletes who attended the program.
