Southern Highlands Province Prioritising Rural Roads

The Southern Highlands provincial government has delivered a payment of K2.7 million to communities in Pomberel Village in the Nembi Plateau for several roads projects.

The road projects will benefit more than 30,000 people from Nembi Plateau local level government area in the Nipa Kutubu district.

Southern Highlands Governor, William Powi, presented the cheques that will be divided across 21 council wards.

Powi said the K2.7 million delivered for the projects in the area was the first of its kind. He said so far he has delivered all 42 new provincial roads in the province.

Some of the major impact projects to be built in Mendi area are the K4 million Mendi Market, the K3 million three-story Provincial Government Building and Convention Centre, the K330 million Mendi Hospital redevelopment, and a new Judge’s house.
