Schools to Receive Outstanding TFF Funds

By Eric Haurupma – EM TV News, Port Moresby

National News Minister, Nick Kuman, said schools in the country will receive the outstanding K49.6 million Tuition Fee Free (TFF) funds from the government.

He said this would honour the government’s commitment to provide free education to students in the country.

This payment is part of the 2015 fourth quarter subsidy payment that schools missed out on following the close of accounts last year.

Meanwhile, Kuman has said that the Finance Minister, James Marape, has confirmed the payment will be made and it will be made available to schools shortly.

Acting National News Secretary, Dr. Uke Kombra, said these TFF funds will go towards subsidising student’s fees for the 2015 academic year.

However, this is not applicable with tertiary institutions as parents continue to work hard to earn money to pay for their student’s tuition fees.

The government will continue to provide tuition fee free education from elementary to secondary or national high schools for the 2016 academic year.
