Just weeks after the release of Furious 7, the seventh installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, the dates for the next sequel has been announced.
On the Furious 7 Twitter page, the next chapter of the saga was announced to be released on April 14, 2017.
Vin Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto, confirmed this at Universal’s CinemaCon panel.
Before he confirmed the release date, he thanked a crowd of theatre owners saying it meant a lot to get their blessing. He made the big announcement and later added, “We did it as a family and I love you for that.”
Furious 7 was released earlier this month and within 17 days has hit over a billion US dollars at the worldwide box office, making it the fastest ever.
The last movie of the blockbuster franchise was a tribute to the late Paul Walker, after he died in a tragic car accident while it was still in the making.
The title of the next part is not confirmed yet, however, it’s now popular as ‘Furious 8’.
