Lae Police are searching for a man in his early 20’s, wanted for raping a six-year old girl in 2012.
John Kaupa is out on the run after the National Court served a bench warrant for his arrest.
He has been charged by the National Courts for Grievous Bodily Harm, and Sexual Penetration of a minor.
On the 2nd of April 2012, four men lured a six-year old girl from a canteen at Nawaeb block back road, and raped her throughout the night.
She was raped near the Bumbu River. She later crawled out and sat at the riverbank, where a man found her.
First Constable, Michelle’sibong, of the Sexual Offences Squad says, this case is one of the most serious.
The Prime Suspect, John Kaupa, was identified by the six year old but the four others couldn’t be identified.
The six-year-old girl lives with her mother at Nawaeb block. Her mother had gone out of town, while she was left with relatives.
“Her mother had gone to Erap to buy food to sell at her market” says 1st Constable Michelle’sibong.
John Kaupa has been charged by the National Courts for Grievous bodily harm and sexual penetration.
It’s understood that he was out on bail, when the case was put through to the National courts. A bench warrant is out for his arrest.
Police are now appealing to Lae City residents and the nation to provide information to the arrest of John Kaupa.
