The PNG Rugby Football Union board has come out condemning the installment of an interim committee to head the code in Papua New Guinea.
The committee members named include ; Michael Uari, Nathan Chan, Gabriel Tika, Michael Bai, Clarence Pain, and Boudie Meapo.
PNGRFU President, Ben Frame stated, “the committee was illegally appointed and has committed the following fraudulent actions: approaching the IPA assuming roles as executives, assuming executive functions including the Board Chairman, and making public announcements unlawfully.”
The nomination of this interim committee has come after the 2016 annual general meeting was deferred initially to January 2017.
That deferral, for a number of reasons, which also included the clarification on the nomination of current PNG Sports Foundation CEO, Peter Tsiamalili Jnr, as well as non-compliance issues from affiliate member unions.
However, Frame further went on to state,“the current board was rightfully voted in their positions in 2015 PNGRFU AGM, and remain in that capacity until the next AGM in December 2016”
The statements from PNGRFUs board, and the announcements made by the interim come amidst the success of the country’s various selected teams on the international stage.
With the visit of World Rugby officials later this week, it is hoped that that this will bring stability.

The success of the teams don’t necessarily mean the house is in order. Rugby ha’s gone backwards.
