PNG Electoral Commission Launches Corporate Plan

The PNG Electoral Commission launched its Corporate Plan 2018 to 2022, today in Port Moresby.

The  corporate plan includes major events for the PNGEC for the next five years, these are  – Legislative changes to the electoral framework, Conduct of the LLG elections, Review of the electoral boundaries, Conduct of the 2022 Elections, Organizational restructuring and the use of technology to improve the electoral process.

It is also a guideline for the PNGEC to improve on and a way forward, from the recent national elections based on recommendations by election observers and internal evaluation.

The corporate plan also falls in with the governments Vision 2050 plan and is consistent with the governments planning framework.

Meanwhile, the PNGEC has established eight strategic goals to address the departments challenges – legal framework, election management, voter enrollment, voter awareness and civic education, gender equity and social inclusion, restructuring and decentralization, organizational capacity and financial management.

The PNGEC was assisted by international and local partners in achieving this milestone for the government department.
