Palais Team Up With Heritage Oil

In their efforts to strengthen women’s rugby in Papua New Guinea, the PNG Palais have secured funding and support from world-wide organization, Heritage Oil Limited.

The sponsorship is timely, as the PNG Palais have a busy schedule prior to the Pacific Games.

With Heritage Oil on board as one of the major sponsors of the PNG Palais, Head Coach Elenoa Kunatuba is confident that the team can now proceed further, in terms of improving their credibility on the international scene.

Managing Director of Heritage Oil, Jenni Lean, a rugby fan herself, is ecstatic to be a part of a great cause that will, in time, go a long way for PNG rugby and contribute to the development of the sport.

Mrs. Lean, alongside Head Coach Kunatuba, discussed the many possibilities and opportunities in line for women’s rugby and their number one goal of qualifying for the 2016 Rio De Jeneiro Olympics.

Women’s rugby, in the past, has had minimum support, therefore delaying the process of exceeding in many fields of competition.

With the aid of mass participation programs, Kunatuba is confident that she’s got all the support to take out big-time rugby sevens rivals – Fiji.

The Palais will be travelling to Queensland in November for the Noosa sevens, as well as preparing for the Pacific Games, before proceeding to the Olympic Games qualifier.
