Madang Provincial Police Commander, Acting Superintendent Robert Baim has confirmed that Madang Police have taken full control of the situation in Madang.
PPC Baim stated that under his command he will not allow opportunists to take advantage of the situation in Port Moresby to sabotage normal business operations in Madang.
“We will maintain peace in all communities in Madang & ensure all law abiding citizens are at peace despite of what has transpired in Moresby.Currently situation in Madang is a bit tense but we managed to contained it & we advised all shops to be closed at 12pm, prevention is better than curing.” he said.
He confirmed that tomorrow (Friday 12/01/24) is business as usual depending on Police assessments on the current situation.
