Pacific Games: Monier Park Under Construction

By Lorraine Genia – EM TV, Port Moresby

With just 184 days remaining till the 2015 Pacific Games, much of the construction work done on venues is beginning to look promising.

Although doubts remain on the completion and use of the Rita Flynn Indoor netball courts, work at the Bisini Parade has been excavated, with the soccer and rugby fields expected to be completed in the month of  May.

The Monier Rugby Park has not received a facelift for almost a decade, 2015 Pacific Games is to see an upgrade of the park, together with all its facilities.

The home of rugby union in Port Moresby will have two standard rugby union ovals, with steel fabricated grandstands for spectators.

For the duration of the Pacific Games, the PNG Rugby Football Union office will not be in operation as all venues are to be handed over to the Pacific Games Committee, throughout the two week competition period.
