NCD COVID-19 Cases Increase to 64, 2 Deaths

The nation’s capital is about to end its first week of lockdown and the number of confirmed cases of COVID- 19 continues to surge.

Controller, David Manning yesterday evening, announced from the National Command Centre, confirming six new positive cases of COVID- 19 in Port Moresby.

The total number of confirmed cases for PNG has now gone up to 72. NCD leading count with 64 confirmed cases and 2 deaths.

Active cases stand at 54 at this stage while three are in critical condition.

The confirmed case numbers are fluid; which means that more cases are expected to be announced once test results are confirmed during the course of the day and days going forward.

Health teams cannot put a finger on the hot spot areas therefore; the general public is expected to remain vigilant to protect themselves against the virus.
