The Oro Disaster Centre is gearing up to carry out major relief measures to people affected by floods.

Provincial Disaster Coordinator Albert Begembo says it will take anther 72 hours beforethey receive funds fromthe government.

He saidthey are currently preparing two response strategies, in anticipation of more heavy rains.

More than ten response teams have been dispatched to affected areas, ensuringthere is continuous assistance tothe people.

The Girua and Kumusi bridges are also being restored, with engineer’s working day and night.

Mr Begembo thanked business houses and nearby communities for continuously assisting affected people.

He also thankedthe Provincial and National Government for their immediate response.   

On Wednesday, January 16,the Prime Minister committed K5 million towards disaster relief efforts.
