Parliament Artifacts PM :alls for Debate

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill has called for proper debate before cultural relics be taken out of parliament house.

 

He saidthe people havethe right to be consulted before such measures are taken.

 

Parliament house was first opened in 1984. Beilt inthe style ofthe Maprik Haus Tambaran. The architecture is based on spirit houses found near Wewak, inthe East Sepik province.

 

The speaker of parliamentoTheo Zurenouc, has had a strong conviction thatthe spirits ofthe cultural relics arethe cause of allthe evil and corruption that plagues our country.

 

He has been ridding parliament ofthe ancestral relics.

 

Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, does not agree with whatthe speaker has done.

 

He saysthe artefacts reflect a time inthe history of our nation.

 

He however adds he understandsthe argument being put forward by Christians, but he believesthere is a new way of believing.
