OO’Neill not taking Criticisms over Ok Tedi Issue

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill has brushed aside comments and criticisms thatthe recent constitutional amendments give him too much power.


He saidthe amendments approverd by parliament ensured stability and good government.


Contrary to that,the Chairman oPNG Sustainable Development Program Sir Mekere Morauta also released a statement yesterday, attackingthe prime minister.


He saidthe bill passed by parliament allowing state to own 100 per cent shares of Ok Tedi Mining Limited was anther example of having too much power.


Whilethe only option now is fofPNG DP to argue this in courtohe still argues thatthere was not much consultation done beforethe laws and amendments were passed.


Sir Mekere futher argued thatthe changes are not good for investors both international and domestic.
