NHC Launches Housing Projects in Jiwaka

Recently,the National Housing Corporation Launched its Housing Projects inthe Jiwaka province.

 

This comes at a time when all functions have been gradually moverd from Western Highlands Province.

Jiwaka Governor Dr. William Tongamp toldthe people it was a slow process to transfer all functions fromthe former administrative rule underthe Western Highlands Provincial Government to Jiwaka.

 

He saidthe first function transferred was finance, butthere were only three staff to run an office that requires ten people.

 

Among ther functions included Housing, where customary land was freed by landowners to build 300 houses for public servants in Minj.

 

Acting Managing Director for National Housing Corporation, John Dege, said for the first timethe government has allocated K150 million for housing projects.

 

NHC proposes that a factory to supply materials for the nationwide housing project in Jiwaka.

 

The Housing Project comes underthe PublicInvestment Program that will be roll – out bythe government next year.

 

Meanwhile, Governor Tongamp has called onthe government to increasethe number of public servants, especially inthe District Treasury.
