New Zealand’s first win in the 2015-2016 HSBC World Sevens Series has boosted them up to third place on the table, behind South Africa in first and Fiji sealing the second spot.
A massive achievement for the country, which reigns worldwide in the 15s format.
South Africa led 21-7 by halftime, putting New Zealand under immense pressure.
Their best results to date, but not an easy task.
But brilliant play from Seabelo Senatla, after picking up a misdirected off-load by Sonny Bill Williams early in the second spell, allowing Cheslin Kolbe to register his third conversion.
A yellow card to Specman however, only prompted the Kiwi’s to improve their performance.
With little time remaining, Reiko Ioane scored twice in quick succession before Joe Webber scored the winning try on the final whistle.
New Zealand will be looking to maintain their winning streak at the Sydney 7s this weekend, as a build up to the 2016 Rio Olympics.
