The people of Nawaeb District in Morobe Province will benefit from a new road service funded by the government’s Public Investment Program.
The people of the Gain area in Nawaeb District have expressed their appreciation towards the government for addressing their road service needs.
Over the past 10 years, the Nawaeb people in the Gain area walked long distances to transport coffee and garden food to the main roads, to be brought to the markets in Lae City.
Nawaeb District is in the Morobe highlands. The district’s economy and people have suffered from bad roads.
Health services and education are among the many services that have been affected by poor road access.
The Public Investment Program has now funded a road project worth K5 million. The new road will provide access to Badibo, Gain and Kusip in Nawaeb District.
Meanwhile, the second phase of the road project will extend into Nawaeb District’s mountainous regions.
