Public Calls For More ATM Services In Wabag

By Jack Lapauve Jr – EM TV, Port Moresby

An increasing influx of people in Enga Province has caused long queues in banking services in Wabag town.

People have been standing in long queues for two to three hours to access ATM machines and enquire for other banking services.

Public servants have called for BSP to increase its services by putting more ATM machines around Wabag town.

A teacher, Don Pakilau, says BSP needs to seriously look into the matter and improve its services.  “It’s about time the bank [BSP] should consider this problem,” said Don. He says over the past three weeks people have been struggling to access the ATM machines.

Another public servant, Steven Angalu, says BSP is the only bank in Wabag and people have no choice but to stand in line to access banking services every day. “People are queuing for hours and wasting time for this service”, he added.

Angalu says people have no choice but to join the queues as BSP is the only banking service available.

The BSP branch was contacted but could not comment on the matter.
