Landowners of the Gobe Oil Fields, located between the ‘Order of Gulf and Southern Highlands province, have commended their Councillor for making the right decision.
Deputy LLG President for Erave, Councillor Max Apua, was praised for purchasing a sawmill at the cost of over K40, 000, for the community.
This is the first time for the people of Semberigi to see their Infrastructure Development Grants from Gobe, used to benefit the community.
This people are from Pawala village in the Semberigi area of Erave District.
They are currently residing at Kaugere in the Moresby – South Electorate. They were happy with their Councillor for buying the sawmill so they can now build their houses back home.
Councillor Moses said that he wanted to lead by an example as most times, IDG grants were spent in the city without any tangible development in the area.
The people say this is a relief for them as they now can rebuild their houses, ravaged during a tribal fight in 2009.
