The National Soccer League Port Moresby derby was staged at the Correctional Institute Service Bomana, featuring two games.
The first, between underdogs Admiralty FC and champion side Hekari united FC. The second was between Oro FC and FC Port Moresby. Admiralty FC attacked early in the game, placing pressure on the Hekari defence.
As the game continued, Hekari settled, and had multiple shots on goal, with Emmanuel Gideon and Hekari captain, David Muta compelling Oro keeper with force saves from outside 18 yards. Admiralty’s, Michael Foster proved to be their hope of scoring but was denied by Hekari’s back line, which saw the game end in a nil all draw.
In the other day’s match, Oro FC were quite confident in their match up against FC Pom after their one nil victory last week.
Oro’s Henry Ronny was the first to open the scoring, giving them the lead all through the first half. Neil Hans, equalised early in the second half, from a beautiful curved penalty that fumed past Oro’s defence. Minutes later, defender Moses Arisib tapped the ball past POM Keeper Charlie Lepani. Then Gari Moka’s header late in the game sealed their 3-1 victory.
