PNG Lewas Defeat Samoa

The Pacific MMI PNG Lewas team stunned a determined Samoan Women’s Cricket Team in two T20 matches yesterday, at the Faleata Cricket grounds in Apia, Samoa.

In the first match, the Lewas posted an impressive 3 out for 106 runs off their allocated 20 overs.

Pendell Mebo Ipi topped the scoring with 35 runs, while Tanya Ruma contributed 25 runs. Samoa’s Tere Lini was the best on the bowling for the Samoan side with 1 out for 17.

Samoa tried replying to the Lewas score of 106 runs, but could only manage 34 runs off from 19.1 over’s.

In the second match, Lewas Captain, Pauke Siaka, led the teams batting posting 21 runs; Tanya Ruma added another 15 runs and Konio Oala with 14 runs strengthening the team to a score of 7/86.

Lewas bowling was exceptional with Boni David, Brenda Tau and Norma Ovasuru easily bowling out the Samoan team that posted 10 out for 48 runs.

The Lewas will play the Samoa U19 Cricket Team in a 50 over Match tomorrow.

The team is in Samoa for a two week development tour that is part of the preparations for the Pacific Games in July.
