The National Rugby League’s (NRL) League Bilong Laif program has shown progressive signs of having an impact on the lives of its participants.
This was announced following an evaluation from the Centre for Sport and Social Impact at La Trobe University in Australia.
John Wilson, Manager for the NRL Pacific Program, said League Bilong Laif is more than just a school program that can change the lives of participants for the better.
Following a review by a team from the La Trobe University, the program received positive feedback in terms of its effectiveness.
With Mark Mom leading the management of the NRL PNG team, they have seen successful results in delivering the key messages of education and respect to participants of the program.
Research shows that being a part of the League Bilong Laif program gives children the chance to engage with education, and strengthen the important message of gender equality through their female staff.
From the feedback shown, not only is it children who benefit from the program, but it also extends to the staff and the broader community in general.
League Bilong Laif is a three-way partnership between the Australian Government, the PNG Government and the NRL.
