IRC staff donates to Family Support Centre

The Internal Revenue Commission has stepped out with vital community support.

Staff of IRC donated personal items to assist the Family Support Centre, which comes under the Port Moresby General Hospital.

The Family Support Centre deals with survivors of both domestic violence and sexual violence.

The generous and personal donations of clothing, children’s toys, money and other items by IRC staff members were handed over by IRC Commissioner General, Betty Palaso.

Ms Palaso said IRC also works with the Male Advocacy Network, against violence on women, and it also supports the Gender Equity Social Inclusion (GESI) Policy driven by the Department of Personnel Management.

The Family Support Centre is part of the Port Moresby General Hospital and comes under the Medical Social Department, headed by Clinical Manager, Tessie Soi.

The Family Support Centre was established in 2004, but only started including vital medical interventions in 2014.

It provides vital support for survivors of intimate partner violence as well as victims of sexual abuse like rape and child abuse cases.
