Huon District Funds for Health and Education Hasn’t Been Released

Huon district is an area known for high infant death rates but it hasn’t received its full district funds fromthe government to maintain its health care.

Member for Huon DistrictoRoss Seymour says ofthe total K10 million fund allocated, only K3 million has been released.

“Money belonging tothe people must be given tothe people,” He said.

He said funds that were supposed to be released tothe district will be released next year becausethe financial year is ending.

Mr Seymour who is inthe Opposition has called onthe Government to releasethese funds.

The funding shortfall inthe district is affecting essential health and education services. Mr. Seymour says delivery of ther services are also being affected.

Throughout last monththe Morobe Governor, Kelly Naru, has been pushing for administrators to start working to improver service delivery in his province.

“They are not serving inthe true nature of serving,” he said.

Mr. Seymour says&nbspthe finance department is delayingthe release ofthe funds.
