The Port Moresby Hockey Association has completed Round Three of its 11 a-side competition.
President, Peter Molean, says the association is one of the biggest in the country, with a total of 250 players.
POM Hockey’s Peter Popu says the 2016 season has seen the number of teams increase, since the recent Pacific Games.
He says the new grounds at Sir John Guise Stadium will be able boost the performance of individual players to prepare for national and international tournaments.
Popu added that running selections for international tournaments has been challenging, since hockey is not popular around the country.
Meanwhile, national players were selected from the last PNG Games despite not having a proper avenue to run selections.
Interested corporate houses are encouraged to come up with their teams to join the POM Hockey Association and promote the code.
