FC Port Moresby Positive

By Jeremy Mogi – EMTV Sports, Port Moresby

Coming off the back of a devastating loss to Hekari over the weekend, FC Port Moresby are back to the drawing board, and hoping for a better performance in their next match of the Telikom National Soccer League.

Having missed numerous chances against the Southern Conference league leaders, this has shown that the team has the potential to win matches.

Tactically, FC Port Moresby had been able to hold off Hekari United for much of the round four match.

This is a positive sign, considering that Hekari has scored in the first half of all matches played so far this season.

Hekari did outclass them toward the end with a 3-0 scoreline, but the numerous opportunities that FC Port Moresby were able to create for themselves against the top club showed that they have the ability to score, nerves aside.

Missing the services of both Richard Sios and Nathaniel Lepani also proved to be difficult for a team so accustomed to winning.

However, FC Port Moresby does have enough talent to get them through.

Nathan Steven proved difficult to handle on occasion, taking on Hekari’s experienced defence, so too Niel Hans, and only a positive outcome remains for this club still looking for back-to-back wins.

FC Port Moresby, like all other clubs here in the Southern Conference, are all looking to either top the pool, or hit the runner-up position. Which, given Hekari’s continued dominance, seems a more likely prospect.

Hekari United sit six points ahead of second placed Erema FC, who themselves meet FC Port Moresby this weekend.
