Capital Rugby Union enters its semi-finals showdown this weekend at the Monier Rugby Park in Port Moresby. The Premier Rugby Union competition has grown to house 13 clubs to participate in this year’s competition alone.
Hoping to break Harlequins dominance this year, in the U-19 Men’s division, Valley Hunters sit in first place with 52 points and will face 2nd place Harlequins on Sunday. The Ausenco Brothers in third place, and securing their spot for a Semi-finals appearance this weekend against fourth placed Wanderers on Saturday.
The inclusion of a Men’s B-Grad division sees Wanderers sitting in first place with 50 points, and will face 2nd place University on Sunday, while third place Defence will take on Nova for a final’s appearance. After an appeal by University mid-week to review the point’s ladder, University has been awarded minor premiers in the Men’s A-Grade ladder, and will have to prove their worth against Defence in 2nd place. The 2013 runners-up Harlequins will face Valley Hunters on Saturday.
The return of Women’s 15’s this year see’s Spartans finish as minor premiers, while Southern Chiefs trail in at 2nd place. Sisters fall in third place and favorites Harlequins in 4th place. After a gruelling match against Minor Premier’s Defence in round 10, 3rd place University will take on 4th place Wanderers on Saturday.
And hoping to take revenge from last year’s defeat, the Men in green and gold, Defence, are certain to take the bragging rights this year against reigning premiers Harlequins on Sunday.
