Fairweather on Deteriorating Infrastructure

The state of Affairs in the Madang Province came under scrutiny in Parliament today.

The issue was brought up by Sumkar MP, Ken Fairweather, in light of the deteriorating services in the province.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Intergovernmental Affairs, Leo Dion, pinned it down to a lack of collaboration between the leaders of the province.

The Sumkar MP ranked his province the worst, blaming the provincial government for the deterioration of the infrastructure and the delivery of basic services.

He called on the intergovernmental minister to suspend the provincial government.

Minister Leo Dion said he had no powers to suspend the Madang Provincial Government and went on to explain the role of the provincial government.

Mr. Fairweather interjected stating that the minister was spinning words and not answering the question.

Minister Dion attributed it as a leadership problem that needs to be solved at the provincial level.
