This week’s episode of Business PNG features the dormant film industry and the launch of a new feature film that is geared towards reviving said industry.
Pawa Meri is a six-part documentary series that portrays strong female role models in Papua New Guinea, challenging existing stereotypes about women and inspiring younger women to be leaders themselves.
The project aims to strengthen the PNG film industry by working with these six Papua New Guinean women who each directed one of the Pawa Meri films.
The project is an initiative by the Centre for Social and Creative Media at the University of Goroka and the Victoria University in Melbourne.
Accompanying this story, we answer the question of whether or not the recent scandal surrounding Prime Minister Peter O&rsquO’Neill may taint the country’s global image and whether it will affect investor confidence.
Experts say that good relationships foster political stability, and political stability means economic growth. Business PNG asks the question; will the issues the country is currently facing foster political stability and what is its impact on the country’s global image?
