SP Brewery has joined a string of business houses stepping up in support of the fourth annual Miss Pacific Islands Pageant PNG.
The brewery giant presented a cheque of K10,000 to the pageant committee today, for the staging of this year’s crowning ball on the November 14.
“SP brewery with our brand Export Radler, is delighted to be a bronze sponsor, and we wish the organisers well for the crowning ball in November” SP Brewery Marketing Manager, Roger Harwood, said atthe presentation today.
Five contestants have been secured so far, and the winner will go on to represent the country and its unique and diverse culture at the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant in December in the Cook Islands.
The pageant, however, is not just an event to find a cultural ambassador to represent PNG in the Pacific, it also raises funds to assist young women to complete their education.
Many of the beneficiaries are scattered across the country, attending vocational, technical colleges and universities.
“With support from organisations such as SP Brewery, we will continue to educate more young women. We believe that education is the key to success and prosperity of this country. We believe that when you educate a woman, you educate a community and ultimately a nation” said the Committee Vice Chairperson, Molly O’Rourke, on accepting the cheque.
The committee has raised over K400,000 worth of scholarships in the last four years, assisting over 100 struggling girls throughout PNG in enhancing their education.
