With the Export Rugby Championship fast approaching, provincial teams are wrapping up their selection processes as teams are to be submitted by early next week.
The Port Moresby based Boromas and Gaigais squads are expected to be finalised, following a trial match this weekend.
The extended squad consists of a blend of PNG Pukpuk reps in the likes of Tisa Kautu, Manu Guise and Elipema Kini; and Capital Rugby Union juniors who are vying for a jersey in the capital’s rep side.
The experience within the team extends to a number of former rep players such as Willie Rikis, Raymond Romulus, Paul Joseph and of course the Pankgatana brothers who will be the driving force in ensuring the Boromas and Gaigais return to their former glory.
While there is much excitement around the return of provincial rugby, there is also the urgency for many who have been a part of the Capital Rugby Union to debut for the Boromas and Gaigais.
The Gaigais first match up is against the Daru Stingrays, while the Boromas take on the Barbarians, at 3pm on Saturday July 23 at Sir John Guise Stadium.
