Alotau Housing Titles on delay

Parliament was told that delayed issuance of Housing Titles are still a concerned for residents in Alotau who have purchased National Housing Corporation Houses.

This was highlighted by Milne Bey Governor Tit’s Philemon.

Mr Philemon said residents in Alotau are yet to hear from National Housing Corporation onthe issue.

He said this is not new or unique to Alotau. It’s experienced by many home – buyers, who are yet to receive Housing titles fromthe National Housing Corporation.

However, Housing Minister Paul Isikiel said no titles will be issued until all payments fromthe different Housing schemes includingthe Giveaway scheme are remitted to National Housing Corporation.Infact about K36 million is still outstanding.

A Ministerial Committee has been set up to look intothe matter.

About three weeks ago,the National Housing Corporation came underthe microscope ofthe Public Accounts Committee.  Led by Begia MP John Hickey,the PAC grilledthe National Housing Corporation Managing Director John Dege on numerous complaints from home buyers with outstanding land titles.
