Madang Election Security Expensive

Madang Governor Jim Kas says irregularities inthe 2012 national elections have resulted inthe Usino Bandi recount and alsothe coming Madang open by-election.

 

He explained that tough security was important in maintaining peace duringthese processes; however, it was also expensive.

He saysthe provincial government has exhausted its budget on law and order with justice.

To anticipate what might sprint up, Mr Kas said resources have to be pulled from ther sectors such as police and funding.

 

Kas has appealed tothe judiciary to consider finances, when making decisions inthe court room. He thankedthe police for maintaining law and order inthe recount petition.

 

Meanwhile, Provincial Police Commander Chief Superintendent Sylvester Kalat says police officers were deployed from Ramu and Belolo were deployed to Usino Bandi to provide security duringthe.

 

The Madang Provincial Governor said two-million kina has been allocated for the Madang Open Be-election.
