The body of man in his mid 20s was found late this afternoon by members of the Lae public.
Police were called to the Lae Botanical Garden to retrieve the body.
At around 4 pm this afternoon Traffic in Lae came to a standstill after the body of a man believed to be in his 20s was found just inside the Lae Botanical Gardens precinct.
Police were alerted and went to the scene to keep onlookers away from the crime scene before the Criminal Investigation division arrived to retrieve the body.
CID detectives were accompanied to the scene moments later with medical officers who took the body to Angau’s Hospital morgue.
EMTV was at the scene, the young man looked to have been beaten by blunt objects on the head.
Police are now investigating.
